Savoury Pies
SPANAKI TARTA
Spinach and feta tart:
Perhaps our most popular bite with our farmers' market customers, need one say more? (V)
KOTOPITA
Chicken, red pepper and feta pie
Another incredibly popular pie with our customers - and in Salonika. Mouth-watering, heart-warming and filling
TIROPITA
Baked feta pies with sunflower seeds
Watch out for these on our regular stall, because they're usually sold out within twenty minutes. A classic pie going back to Byzantine times or even earlier, is for modern Greeks, the mid-morning 'snack' par excellence. (V)
KOLOKITHOPITA
Courgette and feta frittata
Ellie's variation on this justifiably popular Greek staple. The result: delicate verging on the sublime (V, GF)
The below is far from a complete list of what Ellie offers at farmer's markets but should give a good idea of her range of pies and mezes.
V - vegetarian (in fact most of her dishes); GF - gluten free; N - contains nuts.
Ellie, on request, can also make up specific orders of any dish or combination of dishes and can deliver in the Oxford, west and north Oxfordshire area. Contact her for details including cost.

Other Savouries
MOUSSAKA
This famous baked combination of aubergine, tomato and mincemeat, topped with bechamel sauce plus cinnamon for a bit of kick, is ideal comfort food for cold winter days as well as summer hikes
A Greek variation of rissole, either made with meat or vegetables:
Meatballs: beef in tomato source or, like souvlaki, on a stick with baked peppers
Vegetarian: Ellie's favourite uses feta, potato and carrot, instantly recognised, by those who know, as an even better version of (Jewish) latkes. (V)
KEFTEDES
PRASOPITA
Leek and feta pie
Ellie's delicate alternative to the better known spanakopita, this dish was originally from Kozani in western Macedonia, reputedly founded by Christian refugees during the Ottoman conquest (V, GF)
DOLMADES
Rice, herbs & seasoning wrapped in vine leaves.
Seasonal in the sense that the best are dependent on fresh, spring-time vine leaves. But the result is more than worth waiting for. (V)
Dips
TZATZIKI
Yoghurt and cucumber dip.
Now a manufactured British supermarket staple, Ellie's home-made tzatziki, is the real, creamy, garlic-infused meze.
The perfect accompaniment to kolokithopita. (V)
Greek orange cake with shredded filo.
It's the layers of fluffy, textured filo which give this away as a very special treat. A great tea-time snack for which connoisseurs are reported to have travelled distance for a slice. (V)
Sweet Dishes
PORTAKALOPITA
Roasted pepper and feta dip.
Another flavoursome and more spicy Greek culinary classic, lovely as a starter with pitta bread and kalamata olives. (V)
HTIPITI
MELIZANO SALATA
Aubergine dip.
If there's one thing which encapsulates the taste of a Greek summer holiday this must be it. Nothing less than food for the soul (V)
Greek walnut cake.
Like the portakolipita another sweet, syrupy, cinnamon - infused delight. But with nutmeg, cloves, chocolate syrup, honey and a touch of cognac among its ingredients; no wonder Ionian islanders serve at Christmas to celebrate happiness and abundance. (V, N)
KARIDOPITA
TROUFAKIA
Chocolate truffles.
Whoever dreamt up biscuit, walnut and chocolate all crunched up together, soaked in cognac and then rolled in cocoa powder? …just try not to eat them all at once! (V)
KOURABIEDES
Greek Christmas butter almonds biscuits
Well, for any festive occasion. The origins of this dish are actually Persian but the Hellenic version is instantly recognisable for the contrasts between soft taste, crunchy bite and lush icing sugar coating (V, N)
